“Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;“ 1Tim. 6:17-18;
Georgian Evangelical-Protestant Church develops ministry of charity. We have the humanitarian programs for socially not protected layers of the population of our country.
We actively cooperate with “Samaritan’s purse” organization which sends Christmas presents to Georgian children. We try to give these presents to children from very poor families. In 2004 we lead the action in orphanage, of name Dmitrov where distributed gifts to children, where we handed Christmas gifts to children. The same actions we had in Rustavi, Gori, Kareli and Khashuri regions.
We also care for several families which are behind a side of poverty. In our church from time to time we make the announcement of gathering products, clothes, financial donations which we direct to a poor layer of the population.
We also have ministry of visiting of sick people. Several times we visited prisoners.
We plan to develop our service of charity widely. What we are doing right now is that small contribution which our church is capable to bring at a present stage, though we have a desire to do much more:
To feed hungry people, to provide with day time livelihood everyone who is in need.
To found a rehabilitation centre for drug addicts and alcoholics.
To found a rehabilitation centre for orphans, for children who do not have place to live, minor criminal.
To develop Prison ministry, (visit prisoners).
We believe that god will open doors to us for glorifying his name, being blessing for the poor.
