Special Statement of the Evangelical Alliance of Georgia March 25, 2020

Due to the rapid spread of COVID19 in Georgia, and not only in our country, but throughout the world, as evidenced by the rapid spread of the COVID19 pandemic, the evangelical churches of Georgia fully support the WHO guidelines and decisions of the Georgian government. ,
In our deepest convictions, Scripture unequivocally teaches secular and theological powers. The two powers are separate, but not opposed. The Lord calls the secular authorities “servants of God” (chapter 13 in Romans), and the Lord gives them the sword of power. For secular authorities, this sword is expressed in laws and decrees imposed by coercion, and the Lord gave the church another sword, which is the preaching of the Word of God (Ephesians 6, chapter 6).
The apostle apostle Paul declares: “The adversary of authority is contrary to the will of God.” When it comes to public safety and well-being, we must all submit to a higher authority, and the gospel and obedience to spiritual matters will be preached. Our Savior, Jesus Christ Himself, is an outstanding example of such obedience. The Lord commanded: “So give Caesar to Caesar, and God to God.” (Matthew, chapter 22:21;).
In addition to the foregoing, we firmly believe that, having come to this world, Christ, because of our sins, through his crucifixion and resurrection, everyone who believes in Christ is declared the temple of God. The apostle Paul teaches: “Do you not know that you are the temple of God, and the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone destroys the temple of God, God will punish him: for the temple of God is holy; and this temple is you. ”- 1 Corinthians 3:16; Therefore, a warning about the life of each of us is a warning about the temple of God and the answer for its destruction to the Supreme God.
According to the gospel, our services are not interrupted or canceled, but temporarily, until the test is completed, the form of fulfillment changes.
Again, we urge every citizen of our country to strictly abide by the extraordinary rules imposed by the government, to stay at home as much as possible and take care of the life of themselves and others.
We pray that God will show us great mercy and save us from all this time of trial.
May the grace, mercy and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be found in Georgia and around the world!
